Judith Dack has a life-long passion for movement.
She is the founder and director of Uptown Studio, in central Toronto, Ontario. Judith’s passion for movement started with her love of dance. When a knee injury ended her dance career, she turned her attention to the therapeutic possibilities of movement. This work took on a new urgency for Judith when her infant daughter was diagnosed with acute Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Determined to give her daughter the best possible quality of life, Judith began searching for the movement therapy that had the most to offer. Her search led her to Feldenkrais, and eventually to the Anat Baniel Method℠ for Children.
In 1991 Judith completed a four year training to become a certified practitioner in the Feldenkrais Method® and in 1995 she also completed her certification to become a Pilates instructor. Judith was then so inspired by the revolutionary work of the Anat Baniel Method, she went on to complete her Anat Baniel practitioner training and further specialized programs of; Baniel’s Mastery trainings in Children with Special Needs, High level Athletes and Performers and Vitality and Anti-Aging. She continues to study, upgrade her credentials and assist with Anat Baniel trainings (known world-wide for her extraordinary outcomes with children using her evolution of Dr. Feldenkrais’s established legacy) to develop a high level of expertise.
Judith’s daughter is a healthy young woman who is able to follow her own passions through school, work, and life. Judith enjoys a busy full time practice working with families and children with special needs. Using the Anat Baniel Method she creates and facilitates wonderful, unimagined new possibilities for all the families she works with. Her expertise has invited many families from around the world to visit her Toronto studio, where she gives series of individual lessons, to facilitate maximum learning and development. Her love, dedication and enthusiasm for ‘transformational movement’, make her a sought after presenter, practitioner and participant at many International conferences.
As the Anat Baniel community grows, Judith enjoys rich collaboration with her senior colleagues and is a sought after mentor by newly graduated practitioners. Judith Dack teaches individual and group classes for people of all ages and abilities and draws on her unique knowledge of Feldenkrais, Pilates, dance, Anat Baniel methods℠ and personal experience of the potential joy and transformation of movement.
Always in demand, Judith has been an International guest lecturer, is a workshop leader at the University of Toronto’s graduate program in Music, and has been a teacher at Sunnybrook Hospital and Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Centre.
